Coaching Information Sheet
What is coaching?
Coaching is the art of managing a conversation using tailored strategies, tools and techniques focused on the client’s learning and development in order to generate a sustainable change in the client’s behaviour, that will enhance their performance in life or career.
Or I prefer to define it:
Coaching is me helping you to find your car’s key so you can go wherever your heart desires and then work out what to do so you won’t lose them again.
This implies that there is a car (that can take you places, your potential) and there is a key, essential if you want to begin the journey.
What potential can I help you unlock? What is that you want to achieve?
The good news is that you already know the answer. You have all the tools needed to get to your goal. You just need a little push to find your way. Sometimes the right question at the right time can open up memories and ideas that we have stored away.
What you need to know about coaching
assumption #1
You can achieve more than you are currently achieving. You already know where you want to drive to. I believe in your unlimited potential. You must believe in it too if you want this to work.
assumption #2
If you want a sustainable change in your behaviour, that will lead you to your desired goal, you must be the one finding the key.
assumption #3
Silence is golden. But when it actually happens silence can be very uncomfortable. We will learn to love this space and welcome it as a fertile space for idea popping. This is your sacred space and we will nurture it and respect it. Il will bear amazing fruits.
assumption #4
Communication is a function of the listener. You might mean something, I might understand something else. To avoid any confusion, I will repeat and check that I am completely clear about what you say.
assumption #5
It’s a tango that you will lead. Coaching is like a dance, we will move at the same speed, same rhythm and on the same floor. I will follow your every step of this dance. We are in it together, adult to adult.
Before your next session please complete the Coaching Preparation Tool.
assumption #6
Time is precious: you are busy, there is no time to lose. I will be responsible of managing the time. We will assess together if the sessions need to be longer, but in general, having a time limit helps with goal reaching. Without boundaries, the process is less effective.
assumption #7
It takes action: you must be ready to commit to a real action. Nothing will change until you’ll change something in your behaviour.
